At the Right Hand of God the Throne

At the Right Hand of God
The Throne

Investigative Judgement Re-examined

(part three of six)

Christ Crowned King upon His Ascension

More biblical text/evidence to consider showing that Christ was coronated (crowned) as King in heaven and then later at the end of the seventy weeks of Daniel nine. He began to work as our High Priest in the Holy Place completing the Atonement. Christ ascended to heaven after his resurrection before He let his disciples touch him. Why?

In John 20:16-17 we read.“Jesus said to her, “Mary!” She turned and said to Him, “Rabboni!” (which is to say, Teacher). 17, Jesus said to her, “Do not cling to Me, for I have not yet ascended to My Father; but go to My brethren and say to them, ‘I am ascending to My Father and your Father, and to My God and your God.’”

What do you suppose he did up there? And why did He not want to be touched or detained? Note the parallel here in the earthly type from Leviticus chapters 8 and 9. He appeared to His disciples following His first ascension after being with His Father for eight days, and it was on the eighth day that the High Priest appeared to the people and God appeared to bless them all once the consecration was finished in the previous seven days.  (see Leviticus 8: 1-36.) Also Lev 9:1 And it came to pass on the eighth day, that Moses called Aaron and his sons, and the elders of Israel; Lev 9:2 And he said unto Aaron, Take thee a young calf for a sin offering, and a ram for a burnt offering, without blemish, and offer them before the LORD. Lev 9:6 And Moses said, This is the thing which the LORD commanded that ye should do: and the glory of the LORD shall appear unto you.
Lev 9:7 And Moses said unto Aaron, Go unto the altar, and offer thy sin offering, and thy burnt offering, and make an atonement for thyself, and for the people: and offer the offering of the people, and make an atonement for them; as the LORD commanded. Lev 9:8 Aaron therefore went unto the altar, and slew the calf of the sin offering, which was for himself.
Lev 9:22 And Aaron lifted up his hand toward the people, and blessed them, and came down from offering of the sin offering, and the burnt offering, and peace offerings. Lev 9:23 And Moses and Aaron went into the tabernacle of the congregation, and came out, and blessed the people: and the glory of the LORD appeared unto all the people. Lev 9:24 And there came a fire out from before the LORD, and consumed upon the altar the burnt offering and the fat: which when all the people saw, they shouted, and fell on their faces.

In the typical on earth this Anointing service took seven days. Note carefully now also He says to Mary that he was not to be touched or detained because He was about to ascend to the Father who is in heaven. Then on the same day he appeared unto his disciples, but there is no indication that they touched Him here either. Rather, the text says he "showed" them his wounds (John 20:20). But eight days later, he appeared to them once more, quieting Thomas' doubts by telling him to touch his hands and side (verses 26, 27). This means that between the day he told Mary not to touch him, and the day he told Thomas to touch him, he must have ascended into heaven, for He at first forbade being touched., detained or delayed for this very reason. And the time between these two events was eight literal days.

On the first day, after appearing to his disciples, the Lord Jesus ascends to heaven to God the Father in His untouched sacrificial offering without spot or blemish, and it is in this condition that He goes into the presence of the Father. He spends seven days in heaven, at the right had of the throne of God the Father where He is Inaugurated/Anointed as King and High Priest by God the Father and the Holy Spirit and is celebrated by all heaven worshiping Him as the King of Glory. Then later He appears again to his disciples. And once again goes back to heaven for the remaining of the 50 days before He sends the gift of the Holy Spirit upon is praying and faithful disciples.

Christ and the heavenly Sanctuary both Holy and Most Holy Place and all that was therein was anointed by God the Father and the Holy Spirit upon His ascension to heaven and then around 34.AD. according to the seventy weeks allowed for the Jewish Nation for their probation until they would be cut off Christ continued His final atoning work as High Priest in the Holy Place. Dan 9:27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: ( if we use a day for a year principal this one week or 7 days is 7 years) and in the midst of the week (three and a half years) he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate. So if we use this same prophetic day equals a year measurement/ruler, this is the same seven years of the last week of the seventy weeks of Dan 9:24 “Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.” At this seventy week timeline which is 490 literal years from the year 457 BC. which bring us to the timeline of 31-34 AD. Chris was crucified or cut off as Dainel says confirming the covenant with many for one week (seven literal years from 27 AD to 34 AD) also Christ rose from the dead ascended to heaven, presented His perfect sacrifice to God the Father, was then crowned and anointed as King and High Priest.

Christ Anointing in heaven.

In the typical earthly sanctuary, Moses Anointed Aaron the High Priest and his sons and entered into the sanctuary on the first day of the seven-days of consecration to anoint everything there in (Leviticus 8:10), in which afterwards on the eight day "appears" in the presence of the children of Israel. Note that the High Priest did not anoint himself, God the Father anointed him and his sons.

Seven years from the time He began His ministry on earth (27AD) when John the Baptist announced Him as the sin offering/the Lamb of God. Is the same seven years of the last week of Daniel 9 (27AD to 34 AD) completing the seventy week prophecy, Christ and the heavenly sanctuary both apartments and all that is therein already being anointed by God the Father and the Holy Spirit, Christ began His work in the Holy Place of the heavenly sanctuary as our High Priest.

Let’s do the math. Seventy weeks (70 weeks a day for a year = 490 years from 457 B.C. this takes us to 34 A.D. plus the 1810 years remaining of the 2300 years of Daniel 8:14 that takes us to October 1844. At the end of this 2300 year period around October 22 ,1844 Christ moved from the Holy Place of the heavenly sanctuary to the Most Holy Place or Hollies of Hollies in heaven to complete His atonement work for us sinners and to remove sin from us and symbolically from the sanctuary in heaven back on to Satan the typical scape goat and the originator of sin.

Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy. (Christ's sacrifice made an end of sins and brought in everlasting righteousness and Christ and the Heavenly Sanctuary were Anointed after His ascension to Heaven in fulfillment of Dan.9:24

We can only imagine how much more glorious was the Coronation/Anointing ceremony of King Jesus in heaven after His ascension. And then afterwards is when He sat on the right hand of the Father on His throne of Grace. And I believe that this took place just before He began His High Priestly work in the Holy Place. Later we will read about what EGW says about this coronation of Christ as King in heaven.

There are also some more things we can learn from this, the things of the earthly sanctuary were not the "very image" of those things in heaven, but only a figure, or shadow (see Hebrews 10:1). So I would expect some differences between the earthly and the heavenly in size and in actual furnishings.

For example we know that in the heavenly sanctuary in the Holy Place there is also a throne of grace where God the Father and Christ minister but in the earthly sanctuary there was no throne in the Holy Place. Rev 4:1 After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter. Rev 4:2 And immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne.
Rev 4:3 And he that sat was to look upon like a jasper and a sardine stone: and there was a rainbow round about the throne, in sight like unto an emerald. Rev 4:4 And round about the throne were four and twenty seats: and upon the seats I saw four and twenty elders sitting, clothed in white raiment; and they had on their heads crowns of gold. Rev 4:5 And out of the throne proceeded lightnings and thunderings and voices: and there were seven lamps of fire burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of God.Rev 4:6 And before the throne there was a sea of glass like unto crystal: and in the midst of the throne, and round about the throne, were four beasts full of eyes before and behind. Rev 5:6 And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth.

Notice that in Revelation chapters four and five it is God the Father that is sitting on the throne in the Holy Place in heaven. And symbolically Christ was before the throne as the Lamb of God presenting His blood for sinners as the sin offering sacrifice. Also notice that this was no small apartment like the earthly sanctuary was, around the throne were also the seats of the 24 elders, seven lamps of fire burning etc. This also very strong evidence of a sanctuary in heaven.

And In Revelation 8:3. He John also saw an Angel "having a golden censer; and there was given unto him much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne." This is also still in the Holy Place not the Most Holy Place and this was the Apostle John as an old man about fifty or more years after Christ ascension to heaven seeing this vision of the Holy Place in the heavenly sanctuary. So some clear differences are here in the sanctuary in heaven including the size of the temple/sanctuary in heaven, the thrones, those in there, and the two apartments thereof with not necessarily the exact same furnishings. The earthy was a shadow and type of the heavenly not an exact replica in size and in ever particular. There is no need for the altars and some of the other furnishing that were in the earthly for animal sacrifices and the ceremony that was only a type of the true in heaven.

The Two Thrones of God

I believe that there is only one throne of God the Father in heaven but they are used and described as two thrones used for different purposes.  They are referred to in the Word of God as the throne of Grace and the throne of Glory and they are movable, transportable thrones with wheels of fire and they move from place to place including in the heavenly sanctuary and anywhere God wants them to go more like a charoit. Also the Lord Jesus Christ was given a throne of His own at the right hand of God the Father. And His throne is as one with the Father's and only goes where God the Father's throne goes. Dan 7:9 "I beheld till the thrones were cast down, and the Ancient of days did sit, whose garment was white as snow, and the hair of his head like the pure wool: his throne was like the fiery flame, and his wheels as burning fire.Rev 4:3 And he that sat was to look upon like a jasper and a sardine stone: and there was a rainbow round about the throne, in sight like unto an emerald." (This represents God the Father sitting on the throne not Christ.) Where is this throne, and what is meant by this bible text in <span>Hebrews 12:2 "Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God."</span> Is Christ seated on a throne next to the Father's throne or is He standing by it as our High Priest in the heavenly sanctuary? Does He at times appear to be sitting by God the Father and other times to be standing as mediator? These are the things we will discover in this bible study.

Also notice these text in Ezekiel show us that this throne is movable and this one throne is transported to both the Holy Place and Most Holy Place of the heavenly sanctuary at different times, but it is the same throne of Rev.4: the throne of Grace. Eze 1:26 And above the firmament that was over their heads was the likeness of a throne, as the appearance of a sapphire stone: and upon the likeness of the throne was the likeness as the appearance of a man above upon it.Eze 1:27 And I saw as the colour of amber, as the appearance of fire round about within it, from the appearance of his loins even upward, and from the appearance of his loins even downward, I saw as it were the appearance of fire, and it had brightness round about.Eze 1:28 As the appearance of the bow that is in the cloud in the day of rain, so was the appearance of the brightness round about. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the LORD. And when I saw it, I fell upon my face, and I heard a voice of one that spake.
( Eze. 10) Eze 10:1 Then I looked, and, behold, in the firmament that was above the head of the cherubims there appeared over them as it were a sapphire stone, as the appearance of the likeness of a throne. Eze 10:2 And he spake unto the man clothed with linen, and said, Go in between the wheels, even under the cherub, and fill thine hand with coals of fire from between the cherubims, and scatter them over the city. And he went in in my sight.
Eze 10:3 Now the cherubims stood on the right side of the house, when the man went in; and the cloud filled the inner court. Eze 10:4 Then the glory of the LORD went up from the cherub, and stood over the threshold of the house; and the house was filled with the cloud, and the court was full of the brightness of the LORD's glory. Eze 10:5 And the sound of the cherubims' wings was heard even to the outer court, as the voice of the Almighty God when he speaketh.
Eze 10:6 And it came to pass, that when he had commanded the man clothed with linen, saying, Take fire from between the wheels, from between the cherubims; then he went in, and stood beside the wheels. Eze 10:7 And one cherub stretched forth his hand from between the cherubims unto the fire that was between the cherubims, and took thereof, and put it into the hands of him that was clothed with linen: who took it, and went out. Eze 10:8 And there appeared in the cherubims the form of a man's hand under their wings. Eze 10:9 And when I looked, behold the four wheels by the cherubims, one wheel by one cherub, and another wheel by another cherub: and the appearance of the wheels was as the colour of a beryl stone. Eze 10:10 And as for their appearances, they four had one likeness, as if a wheel had been in the midst of a wheel.

This took place in the Most Holy Place of the heavenly sanctuary. We know this because it describes the cherubims and God’s presence in between them as also described in the earthly sanctuary as being in the Most Holy Place. So here we have the anti-type of the sanctuary in heaven and between the cherubims is the throne of God the throne of grace, the mercy seat. This is also the throne of Grace were Christ sits as ruling King of Glory but out side of the Most Holy Place. The thrones are moveable and not always in the heavenly sanctuary. "There is the throne, and around it the rainbow of promise. There are cherubim and seraphim. The commanders of the angel hosts, the sons of God, the representatives of the unfallen worlds, are assembled. The heavenly council before which Lucifer had accused God and His Son, the representatives of those sinless realms over which Satan had thought to establish his dominion,--all are there to welcome the Redeemer. They are eager to celebrate His triumph and to glorify their King." {DA 834.1} Clearly this scene did not take place in the Most Holy Place. This was a council in heaven and even lucifer was there but never would he be in the Most Holy Place. This is showing us the same throne that was in the Most Holy Place in Revelation 4: and Eze. Chapters 1: and 10. So the throne is moveable and moves where God wants it to go. So the above is a biblical description of the throne of Grace. But it is transportable and not always in the Holy Place. The Throne of Grace is were Christ is seen sitting (not standing) on the right hand of God the Father's throne. Hebrews 10:12 But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God; Heb 12:2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
1Pe 3:22 Who is gone into heaven, and is on the right hand of God; angels and authorities and powers being made subject unto him.

So there is no doubts or disputing if Christ is on the right hand of God. But it matters were the throne is at when Christ is at the Father’s right hand and it also matters if Christ is sitting on the throne at the Father’s right hand as King or if He is standing there as Mediator and High Priest still working as our Saviour to cleanse us from sin. When Christ is seen sitting, He is sitting as King and Ruler with God the Father on His Throne. But when Christ is seen standing by the Throne of God that is when He is officiating/mediating as our High Priest and He was in the Holy Place until October 1844, when at the end of the 2300 years He and God the Father and the throne of grace also know as the mercy seat moved into the Most Holy Place of the heavenly sanctuary.

Notice in this symbolical text in Zechariah. What is the High Priest doing? He is standing not sitting! This is evidence of mediation work by the high priest. Zec 3:1 And he shewed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the LORD, and Satan standing at his right hand to resist him.
The Holy Place is also where Christ was seen by the apostle Stephen to be standing not sitting at the right hand of God’s throne around 34 A.D. at the end of the seventy weeks allowed for the Jewish nation’s probation.. Act 7:55 But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up stedfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God, Act 7:56 And said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God. Whenever Christ is sitting at the right hand of God the Father, He is sitting as ruling King. But when He is shown standing at the throne of God the Father, He is standing as High Priest and mediating for sinners with His own blood. And after His ascension to heaven in 34 A.D. He is shown standing as our High Priest in the Holy Place not the Most Holy Place as some suggest.

So these are my theories about the thrones of God in heaven and about the two apartments in the heavenly sanctuary and the differences of when Christ is sitting or standing at the right hand of God the Father. They represent the different stages of Christ mediation work in the Holy and Most Holy Places in the sanctuary in heaven. And I have given you plenty of bible and s.o.p. support for these theories. If I am not correct, please show me the biblical evidence.

Another Throne

And the biblical description of the throne of Glory is found here: Not until the personal advent of Christ can His people receive the kingdom. The Saviour said: "When the Son of man shall come in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then shall He sit upon the throne of His glory: and before Him shall be gathered all nations: and He shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats: and He shall set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left. Then shall the King say unto them on His right hand, Come, ye blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world." Matthew 25:31-34.

There will be a judgment made, not all who profess to be saved Christian will be saved. But notice that Christ said when He returns again He will be sitting not standing on the right hand of the Father God. This is because His High Priestly work will be completed and He is coming as King sitting on His throne of Glory. Mat 26:64 Jesus saith unto him, Thou hast said: nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven. When Christ finishes His High Priestly work in the Most Holy Place of the Heavenly Sanctuary, then He will sit once again and come on a different throne, His throne of Glory.

Ellen White statements on the Thrones:

"I saw a throne, and on it sat the Father and the Son. I gazed on Jesus' countenance and admired His lovely person. The Father's person I could not behold, for a cloud of glorious light covered Him. I asked Jesus if His Father had a form like Himself. He said He had, but I could not behold it, for said He, "If you should once behold the glory of His person, you would cease to exist." Before the throne I saw the Advent people--the church and the world. I saw two companies, one bowed down before the throne, deeply interested, while the other stood uninterested and careless. Those who were bowed before the throne would offer up their prayers and look to Jesus; then He would look to His Father, and appear to be pleading with Him. A light would come from the Father to the Son and from the Son to the praying company. Then I saw an exceeding bright light come from the Father to the Son, and from the Son it waved over the people before the throne. But few would receive this great light. Many came out from under it and immediately resisted it; others were careless and did not cherish the light, and it moved off from them. Some cherished it, and went and bowed down with the little praying company. This company all received the light and rejoiced in it, and their countenances shone with its glory. {EW 54.2}

I saw the Father rise from the throne, [SEE PAGE 92.] and in a flaming chariot go into the holy of holies within the veil, and sit down. Then Jesus rose up from the throne, and the most of those who were bowed down arose with Him. I did not see one ray of light pass from Jesus to the careless multitude after He arose, and they were left in perfect darkness. Those who arose when Jesus did, kept their eyes fixed on Him as He left the throne and led them out a little way. Then He raised His right arm, and we heard His lovely voice saying, "Wait here; I am going to My Father to receive the kingdom; keep your garments spotless, and in a little while I will return from the wedding and receive you to Myself." Then a cloudy chariot, with wheels like flaming fire, surrounded by angels, came to where Jesus was. He stepped into the chariot and was borne to the holiest, where the Father sat. There I beheld Jesus, a great High Priest, standing before the Father. On the hem of His garment was a bell and a pomegranate, a bell and a pomegranate. Those who rose up with Jesus would send up their faith to Him in the holiest, and pray, "My Father, give us Thy Spirit." Then Jesus would breathe upon them the Holy Ghost. In that breath was light, power, and much love, joy, and peace.

..."The Holy Ghost was poured out upon us, and I was taken off in the Spirit to the city of the living God. Then I was shown that the commandments of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ relating to the shut door could not be separated, and that the time for the commandments of God to shine out with all their importance, and for God's people to be tried on the Sabbath truth, was when the door was opened in the most holy place in the heavenly sanctuary, where the ark is, in which are contained the ten commandments. This door was not opened until the mediation of Jesus was finished in the holy place of the sanctuary in 1844. Then Jesus rose up and shut the door of the holy place, and opened the door into the most holy, and passed within the second veil, where He now stands by the ark, and where the faith of Israel now reaches. {EW 42.1}

I saw that Jesus had shut the door of the holy place, and no man can open it; and that He had opened the door into the most holy, and no man can shut it (Rev. 3:7,8); [SEE PAGE 86. SEE ALSO APPENDIX.] and that since Jesus has opened the door into the most holy place, which contains the ark, the commandments have been shining out to God's people, and they are being tested on the Sabbath question. {EW 42.2}

Anointing of the Heavenly Sanctuary

And in the scriptures it says "everything" in the sanctuary needed consecration, including the Most Holy Place as seen in Leviticus 8. And also see Exo.40: But the Priest never enter in the MHP during this anointing service, Moses did as he represented the Father God with the Anointing Oil/the Holy Spirit- the Father God and Holy Spirit enter the Most Holy Place prior to the day of Atonement to Anoint it and all that is therein. And the High Priest only entered the Most Holy Place on the day of atonement, never anytime before it.

If we return to Paul, we notice the following order of events: Hebrews 9:6-7

Consecration: "Now when these things were thus ordained" Ministry in the Holy Place: "the priests went always into the first tabernacle, accomplishing the service of God." Ministry in the Most Holy Place: "But into the second went the high priest alone once every year, not without blood, which he offered for himself, and for the errors of the people"

Note that Paul confirms what I said above, that EVERY THING needed to be consecrated. First he describes the various parts of both the Holy Place and the Most Holy Place in Hebrews 9: (verses 1-5). Then he say that all those things must first be "ordained" (now when these things were thus ordained/anointed). Only after they were ordained by God could the High Priest enter on the day of atonement.We saw above that this consecration of everything included that which is in the sanctuary and then he the High Priest was anointed  along with the heavenly sanctuary and all that is there in. So my point is that Christ did not enter the Most Holy Place upon His ascension to heaven. But He was anointed by the Father God and the Holy Spirit along with the the heaven sanctuary and all that is therein upon His ascension.

The Lord Jesus did not anoint Himself as in the typical service God the Father did it. And He Ordained/Anointed the Lord Jesus and the Heavenly Sanctuary and all that is therein including the Most Holy Place. The Father God and the Third Person of the God Head the Holy Spirit symbolized by the Anointing Oil in the earthly sanctuary. They both Anointed/Ordained the Lord Jesus Christ and the Sanctuary and all that is therein and then as in the typical, they then anointed the priest the sons of the High Priest-Christ Disciples at Pentecost symbolized by the Holy Spirit coming upon them. 1Peter 2:9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light.

Ellen White commenting says: “Christ's ascension to heaven was the signal that His followers were to receive the promised blessing. For this they were to wait before they entered upon their work. When Christ passed within the heavenly gates, He was enthroned amidst the adoration of the angels. As soon as this ceremony was completed, the Holy Spirit descended upon the disciples in rich currents, and Christ was indeed glorified, even with the glory which He had with the Father from all eternity. The Pentecostal outpouring was Heaven's communication that the Redeemer's inauguration was accomplished. According to His promise He had sent the Holy Spirit from heaven to His followers as a token that He had, as priest and king, received all authority in heaven and on earth, and was the Anointed One over His people. -Acts of the apostles, chap 4, pp. 39-40

Inaugurated as King/Anointed as High Priest.

Heb 1:3 Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high: Heb 1:4 Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they. Heb 1:8 But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom. Heb 1:9 Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.

Christ was Anointed and Inaugurated as the King and sat on His throne at the right hand of the Father before He began His Ministry in Heaven as High Priest. Notice upon the ascension of Christ He sat down on the right hand of God. He was sitting now as King, not standing as Priest Mediating. This was His Inauguration as King. And then some time afterwards He began His work in the Holy Place as High Priest. And He would then be seen standing by the throne of God not sitting on His right side, because He was standing as a Mediator as High Priest interceding for us sinners just a few years later around 34 AD when the apostle Stephen was being stoned, He saw in vision the heavens open and Christ standing by the right side of the throne of God.This tells us that Christ was in the Holy Place at this time standing as our High Priest and Mediator before the Father God.

Heb 5:1 For every high priest taken from among men is ordained for men in things pertaining to God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins: Heb 5:5 So also Christ glorified not himself to be made an high priest; but he that said unto him, Thou art my Son, to day have I begotten thee.Heb 5:6 As he saith also in another place, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.

Melchisedec was a King an High Priest and also represented the Holy Spirit. Also some SDA’s suggest that Melchisedec was the Holy Spirit in temporary human form and there is some support for this in EGW’s writings but I will not go into now here. And it is after His order Melchisedec’s that Christ was Anointed as both King and High Priest.

Heb 7:1 For this Melchisedec, king of Salem, priest of the most high God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings, and blessed him; Heb 7:2 To whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all; first being by interpretation King of righteousness, and after that also King of Salem, which is, King of peace; Heb 7:3 Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest continually. Heb 7:14 For it is evident that our Lord sprang out of Juda; of which tribe Moses spake nothing concerning priesthood. Heb 7:15 And it is yet far more evident: for that after the similitude of Melchisedec there ariseth another priest, Heb 7:16 Who is made, not after the law of a carnal commandment, but after the power of an endless life. Heb 7:17 For he testifieth, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec. Heb 7:22 By so much was Jesus made a surety of a better testament. Heb 7:23 And they truly were many priests, because they were not suffered to continue by reason of death: Heb 7:24 But this man, because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood. Heb 7:25 Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.Heb 7:26 For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens; Heb 7:27 Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people's: for this he did once, when he offered up himself. Heb 7:28 For the law maketh men high priests which have infirmity; but the word of the oath, which was since the law, maketh the Son, who is consecrated for evermore.

"By His life and His death, Christ has achieved even more than recovery from the ruin wrought through sin. It was Satan's purpose to bring about an eternal separation between God and man; but in Christ we become more closely united to God than if we had never fallen. In taking our nature, the Saviour has bound Himself to humanity by a tie that is never to be broken. Through the eternal ages He is linked with us. "God so loved the world, that He gave His only-begotten Son." John 3:16. He gave Him not only to bear our sins, and to die as our sacrifice; He gave Him to the fallen race. To assure us of His immutable counsel of peace, God gave His only-begotten Son to become one of the human family, forever to retain His human nature. This is the pledge that God will fulfill His word. "Unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon His shoulder." God has adopted human nature in the person of His Son, and has carried the same into the highest heaven. It is the "Son of man" who shares the throne of the universe. It is the "Son of man" whose name shall be called, "Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace." Isa. 9:6. The I Am is the Daysman between God and humanity, laying His hand upon both. He who is "holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners," is not ashamed to call us brethren. Heb. 7:26; 2:11. In Christ the family of earth and the family of heaven are bound together. Christ glorified is our brother. Heaven is enshrined in humanity, and humanity is enfolded in the bosom of Infinite Love."

"The King of glory stooped low to take humanity. Rude and forbidding were His earthly surroundings. His glory was veiled, that the majesty of His outward form might not become an object of attraction. He shunned all outward display. Riches, worldly honor, and human greatness can never save a soul from death; Jesus purposed that no attraction of an earthly nature should call men to His side. Only the beauty of heavenly truth must draw those who would follow Him. The character of the Messiah had long been foretold in prophecy, and He desired men to accept Him upon the testimony of the word of God." Desire of Ages 19-27.

Upon His Ascension Inaugurated as King

“As they drew near to the city of God, the challenge is given by the escorting angels,-- "Lift up your heads, O ye gates; And be ye lift up, ye everlasting doors; And the King of glory shall come in." {DA 833.3}
Joyfully the waiting sentinels respond,-- "Who is this King of glory?" {DA 833.4}
This they say, not because they know not who He is, but because they would hear the answer of exalted praise,-- "The Lord strong and mighty, The Lord mighty in battle! Lift up your heads, O ye gates; Even lift them up, ye everlasting doors; And the King of glory shall come in." {DA 833.5}Again is heard the challenge, "Who is this King of glory?" for the angels never weary of hearing His name exalted. The escorting angels make reply,-- "The Lord of hosts; He is the King of glory." Ps. 24:7-10. {DA 833.6} “ Then the portals of the city of God are opened wide, and the angelic throng sweep through the gates amid a burst of rapturous music. {DA 833.7}

“There is the throne, and around it the rainbow of promise. There are cherubim and seraphim. The commanders of the angel hosts, the sons of God, the representatives of the unfallen worlds, are assembled. The heavenly council before which Lucifer had accused God and His Son, the representatives of those sinless realms over which Satan had thought to establish his dominion,--all are there to welcome the Redeemer. They are eager to celebrate His triumph and to glorify their King.” {DA 834.1}

(Notice that this throne with the rainbow around it is not always in the Holy Place or the Most Holy Place it is transportable as we reviewed earlier and this is where Christ sat down as King upon His ascension to heaven.)

“But He waves them back. Not yet; He cannot now receive the coronet of glory and the royal robe. He enters into the presence of His Father. He points to His wounded head, the pierced side, the marred feet; He lifts His hands, bearing the print of nails. He points to the tokens of His triumph; He presents to God the wave sheaf, those raised with Him as representatives of that great multitude who shall come forth from the grave at His second coming. He approaches the Father, with whom there is joy over one sinner that repents; who rejoices over one with singing. Before the foundations of the earth were laid, the Father and the Son had united in a covenant to redeem man if he should be overcome by Satan. They had clasped Their hands in a solemn pledge that Christ should become the surety for the human race. This pledge Christ has fulfilled. When upon the cross He cried out, "It is finished," He addressed the Father. The compact had been fully carried out. Now He declares: Father, it is finished. I have done Thy will, O My God. I have completed the work of redemption. If Thy justice is satisfied, "I will that they also, whom Thou hast given Me, be with Me where I am." John 19:30; 17:24. {DA 834.2} (His atonement began when He sacrificed Himself at Calvary and it was a complete and perfect sacrifice but was just the first part of His atoning work as our High Priest and Saviour. First the Lamb of God was presented for the sin offering and then the work took place in the sanctuary by the High Priest.)

“The voice of God is heard proclaiming that justice is satisfied. Satan is vanquished. Christ's toiling, struggling ones on earth are "accepted in the Beloved." Eph. 1:6. Before the heavenly angels and the representatives of unfallen worlds, they are declared justified. Where He is, there His church shall be. "Mercy and truth are met together; righteousness and peace have kissed each other." Ps. 85:10. The Father's arms encircle His Son, and the word is given, "Let all the angels of God worship Him." Heb. 1:6. {DA 834.3}

“With joy unutterable, rulers and principalities and powers acknowledge the supremacy of the Prince of life. The angel host prostrate themselves before Him, while the glad shout fills all the courts of heaven, "Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honor, and glory, and blessing." Rev. 5:12. {DA 834.4}

Songs of triumph mingle with the music from angel harps, till heaven seems to overflow with joy and praise. Love has conquered. The lost is found. Heaven rings with voices in lofty strains proclaiming, "Blessing, and honor, and glory, and power, be unto Him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb forever and ever." Rev. 5:13. {DA 835.1} These things all took place upon the ascension of the Lord Jesus to heaven and then afterward He began His work in the Holy Place . On the throne as King being worshiped and celebrated as King and He is sitting not standing. When He is standing by the Father’s throne then He is standing as High Priest Mediating.

Christ moves to the Most Holy Place in October 1844

Ellen White comments:

Ellen White says these very interesting statements. Which took place in 1844 after Christ completed His work in the Holy Place. After the 2300 years of Daniel 8:14. She says: "I saw the Father rise from the throne, and in a flaming chariot go into the holy of holies within the veil, and sit down. Then He raised His right arm, and we heard His lovely voice saying, 'Wait here; I am going to My Father to receive the kingdom; keep your garments spotless, and in a little while I will return from the wedding and receive you to Myself.' Then a cloudy chariot, with wheels like flaming fire, surrounded by angels, came to where Jesus was. He stepped into the chariot and was borne to the holiest, where the Father sat. There I beheld Jesus, a great High Priest, standing before the Father. On the hem of His garment was a bell and a pomegranate, a bell and a pomegranate. Those who rose up with Jesus would send up their faith to Him in the holiest, and pray, 'My Father, give us Thy Spirit.' Then Jesus would breathe upon them the Holy Ghost. In that breath was light, power, and much love, joy, and peace." Early Writings, p. 55; cf. p. 251; Spiritual Gifts, vol. l.pp. 158, 159. ( Also notice that she says Christ and God the Father left their thrones to go into the Hollies of Hollies. So where were their thrones prior to going into the Hollies of Hollies, they were in the Holy Place in heaven.)

Notice very clearly here she says that Christ is “standing before the Father.” And she is also clear that the Father was sitting on His throne here and that this is in the Most Holy Place. She say Christ left His throne “then Jesus rose up from the throne”…where He was sitting as King.

Ellen White’s comments:

“The holy places of the sanctuary in heaven are represented by the two apartments in the sanctuary on earth. As in vision the apostle John was granted a view of the temple of God in heaven, he beheld there "seven lamps of fire burning before the throne." Revelation 4:5. He saw an angel "having a golden censer; and there was given unto him much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne." Revelation 8:3. Here the prophet was permitted to behold the first apartment of the sanctuary in heaven; and he saw there the "seven lamps of fire" and "the golden altar," represented by the golden candlestick and the altar of incense in the sanctuary on earth. Again, "the temple of God was opened" (Revelation 11:19), and he looked within the inner veil, upon the holy of holies. Here he beheld "the ark of His testament," represented by the sacred chest constructed by Moses to contain the law of God...Great Controversy. pg. 415

" And, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of Days, and they brought Him near before Him. And there was given Him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve Him: His dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away. Daniel 7:13, 14.
The coming of Christ here described is not His second coming to the earth. He comes to the Ancient of Days in heaven to receive dominion and glory and a kingdom, which will be given Him at the close of His work as a mediator." Great Controversy, 479-480.

...“In the parable, when the bridegroom came, "they that were ready went in with him to the marriage." The coming of the bridegroom, here brought to view, takes place before the marriage. The marriage represents the reception by Christ of his kingdom. The holy city, the New Jerusalem, which is the capital and representative of the kingdom, is called "the bride, the Lamb's wife." Said the angel to John, "Come hither, I will show thee the bride, the Lamb's wife." "He carried me away in the spirit," says the prophet, "and showed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of Heaven from God." [REV. 21:9, 10.] Clearly, then, the bride represents the holy city, and the virgins that go out to meet the bridegroom are a symbol of the church. In the Revelation the people of God are said to be the guests at the marriage supper. [REV. 19:9.] If guests, they cannot be represented also as the bride. Christ, as stated by the prophet Daniel, will receive from the Ancient of days in Heaven, "dominion, and glory, and a kingdom," he will receive the New Jerusalem, the capital of his kingdom, "prepared as a bride adorned for her husband." [DAN. 7:14; REV. 21:2.] Having received the kingdom, he will come in his glory, as King of kings, and Lord of lords, for the redemption of his people, who are to "sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob," at his table in his kingdom, [MATT. 8:11; LUKE 22:30.] to partake of the marriage supper of the Lamb. {GC88 426.2}

“The proclamation, "Behold, the Bridegroom cometh," in the summer of 1844, led thousands to expect the immediate advent of the Lord. At the appointed time the Bridegroom came, not to the earth, as the people expected, but to the Ancient of Days in heaven, to the marriage, the reception of His kingdom. "They that were ready went in with Him to the marriage: and the door was shut." They were not to be present in person at the marriage; for it takes place in heaven, while they are upon the earth. The followers of Christ are to "wait for their Lord, when He will return from the wedding." Luke 12:36. But they are to understand His work, and to follow Him by faith as He goes in before God. It is in this sense that they are said to go in to the marriage. {GC 427.1}

“In the parable it was those that had oil in their vessels with their lamps that went in to the marriage. Those who, with a knowledge of the truth from the Scriptures, had also the Spirit and grace of God, and who, in the night of their bitter trial, had patiently waited, searching the Bible for clearer light--these saw the truth concerning the sanctuary in heaven and the Saviour's change in ministration, and by faith they followed Him in His work in the sanctuary above. And all who through the testimony of the Scriptures accept the same truths, following Christ by faith as He enters in before God to perform the last work of mediation, and at its close to receive His kingdom--all these are represented as going in to the marriage. {GC 427.2}

In the parable of Matthew 22 the same figure of the marriage is introduced, and the investigative judgment is clearly represented as taking place before the marriage. Previous to the wedding the king comes in to see the guests, to see if all are attired in the wedding garment, the spotless robe of character washed and made white in the blood of the Lamb. Matthew 22:11; Revelation 7:14. He who is found wanting is cast out, but all who upon examination are seen to have the wedding garment on are accepted of God and accounted worthy of a share in His kingdom and a seat upon His throne. This work of examination of character, of determining who are prepared for the kingdom of God, is that of the investigative judgment, the closing of work in the sanctuary above. {GC 428.1}

When the work of investigation shall be ended, when the cases of those who in all ages have professed to be followers of Christ have been examined and decided, then, and not till then, probation will close, and the door of mercy will be shut. Thus in the one short sentence, "They that were ready went in with Him to the marriage: and the door was shut," we are carried down through the Saviour's final ministration, to the time when the great work for man's salvation shall be completed. {GC 428.2}

"Not until the personal advent of Christ can His people receive the kingdom. The Saviour said: When the Son of man shall come in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then shall He sit upon the throne of His glory: and before Him shall be gathered all nations: and He shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats: and He shall set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left. Then shall the King say unto them on His right hand, Come, ye blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. Matthew 25:31-34.

(Note that Christ is being very specific here. He says He will sit upon the throne of His glory at His coming…)

"We believe without a doubt that Christ is soon coming. This is not a fable to us; it is a reality. We have no doubt, neither have we had a doubt for years, that the doctrines we hold today are present truth, and that we are nearing the judgment. We are preparing to meet Him who escorted by a retinue of holy angels, is to appear in the clouds of heaven to give the faithful and the just the finishing touch of immortality. When He comes He is not to cleanse us of our sins, to remove from us the defects in our characters, or to cure us of the infirmities of our tempers and dispositions. If wrought for us at all, this work will all be accomplished before that time. When the Lord comes, those who are holy will be holy still. Those who have preserved their bodies and spirits in holiness, in sanctification and honor, will then receive the finishing touch of immortality. But those who are unjust, unsanctified, and filthy will remain so forever. No work will then be done for them to remove their defects and give them holy characters. The Refiner does not then sit to pursue His refining process and remove their sins and their corruption. This is all to be done in these hours of probation. It is now that this work is to be accomplished for us."2 Testimonies, 355.

"The white-robed ones who surround the throne of God are not composed of that company who were lovers of pleasure more than lovers of God, and who choose to drift with the current rather than to breast the waves of opposition. All who remain pure and uncorrupted from the spirit and influence prevailing at this time will have stern conflicts. They will come through great tribulations; they will wash their robes of character, and make them white in the blood of the Lamb. These will sing the song of triumph in the kingdom of glory. Those who suffer with Christ will be partakers of His glory." Counsels on Health, 264.

“But, although Christ’s kingdom of glory begins at the Second Advent, His final coronation does not occur until after His third advent, just before those who have proven themselves to be incorrigibly wicked perish forever."As if entranced, the wicked have looked upon the coronation of the Son of God." Great Controversy, 668.

"In the presence of the assembled inhabitants of earth and heaven the final coronation of the Son of God takes place. And now, invested with supreme majesty and power, the King of kings pronounces sentence upon the rebels against His government and executes justice upon those who have transgressed His law and oppressed His people." Great Controversy, 666.

“In the typical service only those who had come before God with confession and repentance, and whose sins, through the blood of the sin offering, were transferred to the sanctuary, had a part in the service of the Day of Atonement. So in the great day of final atonement and investigative judgment the only cases considered are those of the professed people of God. The judgment of the wicked is a distinct and separate work, and takes place at a later period. "Judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel?" 1 Peter 4:17. {GC 480.1}

"The books of record in heaven, in which the names and the deeds of men are registered, are to determine the decisions of the judgment. Says the prophet Daniel: "The judgment was set, and the books were opened." The revelator, describing the same scene, adds: "Another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works." Revelation 20:12. {GC 480.2}

"The book of life contains the names of all who have ever entered the service of God. Jesus bade His disciples: "Rejoice, because your names are written in heaven." Luke 10:20. Paul speaks of his faithful fellow workers, "whose names are in the book of life." Philippians 4:3. Daniel, looking down to "a time of trouble, such as never was," declares that God's people shall be delivered, "everyone that shall be found written in the book." And the revelator says that those only shall enter the city of God whose names "are written in the Lamb's book of life." Daniel 12:1; Revelation 21:27. {GC 480.3}

"A book of remembrance" is written before God, in which are recorded the good deeds of "them that feared the Lord, and that thought upon His name." Malachi 3:16. Their words of faith, their acts of love, are registered in heaven. Nehemiah refers to this when he says: "Remember me, O my God, . . . and wipe not out my good deeds that I have done for the house of my God." Nehemiah 13:14. In the book of God's remembrance every deed of righteousness is immortalized. There every temptation resisted, every evil overcome, every word of tender pity expressed, is faithfully chronicled. And every act of sacrifice, every suffering and sorrow endured for Christ's sake, is recorded. Says the psalmist: "Thou tellest my wanderings: put Thou my tears into Thy bottle: are they not in Thy book?" Psalm 56:8. {GC 481.1}
There is a record also of the sins of men. "For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil." Every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment." Says the Saviour: "By thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned." Ecclesiastes 12:14; Matthew 12:36, 37. The secret purposes and motives appear in the unerring register; for God "will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts." I Corinthians 4:5. "Behold, it is written before Me, . . . your iniquities, and the iniquities of your fathers together, saith the Lord." Isaiah 65:6, 7. {GC 481.2}

Every man's work passes in review before God and is registered for faithfulness or unfaithfulness. Opposite each name in the books of heaven is entered with terrible exactness every wrong word, every selfish act, every unfulfilled duty, and every secret sin, with every artful dissembling. Heaven-sent warnings or reproofs neglected, wasted moments, unimproved opportunities, the influence exerted for good or for evil, with its far-reaching results, all are chronicled by the recording angel. {GC 482.1}

The law of God is the standard by which the characters and the lives of men will be tested in the judgment. Says the wise man: "Fear God, and keep His commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. For God shall bring every work into judgment." Ecclesiastes 12:13, 14. The apostle James admonishes his brethren: "So speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty." James 2:12 {GC 482.2}

Those who in the judgment are "accounted worthy" will have a part in the resurrection of the just. Jesus said: "They which shall be accounted worthy to obtain that world, and the resurrection from the dead, . . . are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection." Luke 20:35, 36. And again He declares that "they that have done good" shall come forth "unto the resurrection of life." John 5:29. The righteous dead will not be raised until after the judgment at which they are accounted worthy of "the resurrection of life." Hence they will not be present in person at the tribunal when their records are examined and their cases decided. {GC 482.3}

Jesus will appear as their advocate, to plead in their behalf before God. "If any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous." I John 2:1. "For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us." "Wherefore He is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by Him, seeing He ever liveth to make intercession for them." Hebrews 9:24; 7:25. {GC 482.4}

As the books of record are opened in the judgment, the lives of all who have believed on Jesus come in review before God. Beginning with those who first lived upon the earth, our Advocate presents the cases of each successive generation, and closes with the living. Every name is mentioned, every case closely investigated. Names are accepted, names rejected. When any have sins remaining upon the books of record, unrepented of and unforgiven, their names will be blotted out of the book of life, and the record of their good deeds will be erased from the book of God's remembrance. The Lord declared to Moses: "Whosoever hath sinned against Me, him will I blot out of My book." Exodus 32:33. And says the prophet Ezekiel: "When the righteous turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, . . . all his righteousness that he hath done shall not be mentioned." Ezekiel 18:24. {GC 483.1}

All who have truly repented of sin, and by faith claimed the blood of Christ as their atoning sacrifice, have had pardon entered against their names in the books of heaven; as they have become partakers of the righteousness of Christ, and their characters are found to be in harmony with the law of God, their sins will be blotted out, and they themselves will be accounted worthy of eternal life. The Lord declares, by the prophet Isaiah: "I, even I, am He that blotteth out thy transgressions for Mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins." Isaiah 43:25. Said Jesus: "He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before My Father, and before His angels." "Whosoever therefore shall confess Me before men, him will I confess also before My Father which is in heaven. But whosoever shall deny Me before men, him will I also deny before My Father which is in heaven." Revelation 3:5; Matthew 10:32, 33. {GC 483.2}

While Jesus is pleading for the subjects of His grace, Satan accuses them before God as transgressors. The great deceiver has sought to lead them into skepticism, to cause them to lose confidence in God, to separate themselves from His love, and to break His law. Now he points to the record of their lives, to the defects of character, the unlikeness to Christ, which has dishonored their Redeemer, to all the sins that he has tempted them to commit, and because of these he claims them as his subjects. {GC 484.1}

Jesus does not excuse their sins, but shows their penitence and faith, and, claiming for them forgiveness, He lifts His wounded hands before the Father and the holy angels, saying: I know them by name. I have graven them on the palms of My hands. "The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, Thou wilt not despise." Psalm 51:17. And to the accuser of His people He declares: "The Lord rebuke thee, O Satan; even the Lord that hath chosen Jerusalem rebuke thee: is not this a brand plucked out of the fire?" Zechariah 3:2. Christ will clothe His faithful ones with His own righteousness, that He may present them to His Father "a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing." Ephesians 5:27. Their names stand enrolled in the book of life, and concerning them it is written: "They shall walk with Me in white: for they are worthy." Revelation 3:4. {GC 484.2}

Thus will be realized the complete fulfillment of the new-covenant promise: "I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more." "In those days, and in that time, saith the Lord, the iniquity of Israel shall be sought for, and there shall be none; and the sins of Judah, and they shall not be found." Jeremiah 31:34; 50:20. "In that day shall the branch of the Lord be beautiful and glorious, and the fruit of the earth shall be excellent and comely for them that are escaped of Israel. And it shall come to pass, that he that is left in Zion, and he that remaineth in Jerusalem, shall be called holy, even everyone that is written among the living in Jerusalem." Isaiah 4:2, 3. {GC 485.1}

The work of the investigative judgment and the blotting out of sins is to be accomplished before the second advent of the Lord. Since the dead are to be judged out of the things written in the books, it is impossible that the sins of men should be blotted out until after the judgment at which their cases are to be investigated. But the apostle Peter distinctly states that the sins of believers will be blotted out "when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord; and He shall send Jesus Christ." Acts 3:19, 20. When the investigative judgment closes, Christ will come, and His reward will be with Him to give to every man as his work shall be. {GC 485.2}

In the typical service the high priest, having made the atonement for Israel, came forth and blessed the congregation. So Christ, at the close of His work as mediator, will appear, "without sin unto salvation" (Hebrews 9:28), to bless His waiting people with eternal life. As the priest, in removing the sins from the sanctuary, confessed them upon the head of the scapegoat, so Christ will place all these sins upon Satan, the originator and instigator of sin. The scapegoat, bearing the sins of Israel, was sent away "unto a land not inhabited" (Leviticus 16:22); so Satan, bearing the guilt of all the sins which he has caused God's people to commit, will be for a thousand years confined to the earth, which will then be desolate, without inhabitant, and he will at last suffer the full penalty of sin in the fires that shall destroy all the wicked. Thus the great plan of redemption will reach its accomplishment in the final eradication of sin and the deliverance of all who have been willing to renounce evil. {GC 485.3}

At the time appointed for the judgment--the close of the 2300 days, in 1844--began the work of investigation and blotting out of sins. All who have ever taken upon themselves the name of Christ must pass its searching scrutiny. Both the living and the dead are to be judged "out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works." {GC 486.1}

Sins that have not been repented of and forsaken will not be pardoned and blotted out of the books of record, but will stand to witness against the sinner in the day of God. He may have committed his evil deeds in the light of day or in the darkness of night; but they were open and manifest before Him with whom we have to do. Angels of God witnessed each sin and registered it in the unerring records. Sin may be concealed, denied, covered up from father, mother, wife, children, and associates; no one but the guilty actors may cherish the least suspicion of the wrong; but it is laid bare before the intelligence’s of heaven. The darkness of the darkest night, the secrecy of all deceptive arts, is not sufficient to veil one thought from the knowledge of the Eternal. God has an exact record of every unjust account and every unfair dealing. He is not deceived by appearances of piety. He makes no mistakes in His estimation of character. Men may be deceived by those who are corrupt in heart, but God pierces all disguises and reads the inner life. {GC 486.2}

"I saw the Father rise from the throne, [SEE PAGE 92.] and in a flaming chariot go into the holy of holies within the veil, and sit down. I turned to look at the company who were still bowed before the throne; they did not know that Jesus had left it. Satan appeared to be by the throne, trying to carry on the work of God. I saw them look up to the throne, and pray, "Father, give us Thy Spirit." Satan would then breathe upon them an unholy influence; in it there was light and much power, but no sweet love, joy, and peace. Satan's object was to keep them deceived and to draw back and deceive God's children. The enemies of the present truth have been trying to open the door of the holy place, that Jesus has shut, and to close the door of the most holy place, which He opened in 1844, where the ark is, containing the two tables of stone on which are written the ten commandments by the finger of Jehovah. {EW 43.1}
